Indeed they are, as this photo reveals.  Rain may have slowed them down a bit.

 

 

And the screen on the northwest corner of the garage is getting more interesting by the day.  Maybe someone should do a study on how many ways there are to hide parking pedestals.

Tower crane is mostly down now. This mobile crane looms pretty large over broadway. Caught me off guard this morning.

Not sure why they needed a 300 foot crane to dismantle the tower crane, but there it is.   Could be that the tower crane was so far up the alley they needed the extra reach.   Also took a closer look at the screen for the office parking deck.  It is sort of like the old vinyl accordion style closet doors we had in the 50's.   Some panels don't seem to fit but maybe they aren't finished.  The bottom photo shows that the panels are perforated and somewhat transparent.

^^I could be wrong, but I don't believe the office tower is going to be that tall.  Pretty sure it's been "shrunk" since this model was shown.

It’s going to be covered with the paneling being installed along the Commerce side. Native has some pictures of it up thread.

Recently we have exhibited some angst on the Broadwest site about the absence of an elevator shaft of reinforced concrete in that structure.  But from my vantage point in the NCC at Sixth and Union it is obvious that the office tower at Fifth and Broadway lacks one as well.  This must be a cost-saving measure being used by developers of smaller high-rise towers.  Presumably the load is shifted to the supporting columns and a separate shaft is no longer necessary.

So A-B announced an additional 200 employees at their Nashville HQ... for (what is it now) 1200 employees. I hope they anticipated this when they decided to go shorter and squatty.

AFAIK, they weren’t taking up the whole tower, so they should have some room to grow.
