Sorry Mark, you know I appreciate and respect the hell out of you and everything you do for us here, so I'm not just trying to be a contrarian. But I just don't understand the argument some folks make that having a silent, dead thread in a discussion forum is preferable to one in which discussion is taking place.  I just don't see what the problem is, I guess.   Somebody brought up a Krispy Kreme flagship as a possibility for the corner tenant, and people naturally started discussing Krispy Kreme donuts.  So what?   That's just how naturally flowing conversations work, isn't it?

^ ^ ^ As one of the moderators, I grow weary of having to open the forum many times a day to find inane blather going on that has not one thing to do with development in Nashville.  I'm sure there are other participants on the board who get a bit excited when they see that something new has been posted about a particular project they have interest in, only to find out is nothing of the sort....with the emphasis on NOTHING.   I'm a busy guy...and get annoyed when I have to read through peoples' opinions on things that I just don't give two sh*ts about.  

I'm all for friendly exchange of ideas...but let's all think about what the purpose of this forum is and try to keep off-topic tangents to a minimum.

Now---back to 5th & Broadway.

Look, obviously what you says goes, and I'm not trying to be argumentative here.  I appreciate that you're busy and that being a moderator is not always an easy job.  You're a freakin' amazing human being who is freakin' amazing at what you do, and I appreciate you for it immensely.  People like you and Ron are the lifeblood of this place.  However,  what we're essentially talking about here is whether any and all discussion not directly related to a thread title should be banned -- BANNED -- in this place that I thought was about fostering community and fellowship and yes, friendly discussion, just because some people get annoyed at the extra two seconds it takes them to click on a thread.  It seems to me  though that the more rational solution to this is that if there is a conversation taking place that someone doesn't want to take part in then, instead of trying to shut that conversation down, that person simply continues to not take part in the conversation they were never a part of to begin with.  I would understand the annoyance if there were a lengthy in depth discussion taking place about breaking news at the same time that some other people were  goofing off, interrupting with talk of donuts and whatnot, but before the donut conversation there hadn't even been a single post in this thread for four whole days, and every post prior to that for about a month consisted mainly of just people making random guesses about a tenant.  I understand that there has to be a line, but how is 'don't interrupt the silence' where the line is?  It just makes no sense to me.  

I'm sure I'll come off as the bad guy here for even bringing this up, and that's fine, but part of what I love about this forum is not just the informational aspect but also the people here.  And perhaps it's just my personality, but I love interacting with and joking with and conversing with and getting to know the people here, because that's what makes this place special... is this community full of interesting people like you.  You may see it as "inane blather"... I see it as connecting with friends.  If our discussions are going to be so tightly policed and restricted only to stone-faced  analytical discussion, it kinda takes a lot of the joy out of it for me.  If all I wanted was development news I could just read the Nashville Business Journal everyday, ya know?  Anyway... that's my two cents.  I'll shut up now... if this is the way it has to be then back to the crickets, I guess.

Not really a donut man myself, but as a parent, I always loved Kristy Kreme’s policy of giving school kids a free donut for every A on their report card.     Brilliant!

Pure speculation on my part, but I think the distribution center is probably for gas stations, grocery stores, and fundraisers, etc. that obviously don't make fresh Krispy Kreme donuts on site. 

If the donut fryers and glazing conveyor belts they've got in their stores is all theater, that would seem like a pretty big waste of space and equipment to me.

The new KKs don't have all that equipment. The older ones, and they've been closing those, have their operations behind a large window. I suspect there's a consolidated doughnut kitchen that services the newer locations.

I have no interest in this post.  Why did you not read my mind in order to know that I would have no interest in this post?  In the future you should read my mind and know whether or not I will have an interest in your post.   After that, read the minds of every one else here to see if they personally have an interest in your post before posting.  If after reading every individual's mind you find even one person who lacks an interest in your post you should immediately refrain from posting that thought.  I find things that don't interest me to be an irritant, and rather than just simply choosing to not engage with things that don't interest me, I would rather eliminate all irritants by attempting to shut down all conversations that don't interest me, and then criticize the people engaging in those conversations for not knowing of my irritants ahead of time.   From this point forward I expect all posts here to be centered around what I want to see.
