NBJ story here. This basically says they have the equity and loans to proceed and Metro is under contractual obligation to honor the commitment.

Wasn't it established months ago that this Boston hedge fund was backing the project?  There must be something that is holding this up, right?  I mean I know there's a lot of moving parts involved with a project this large, but if they have all the capital they need in order to proceed, they conceivably would be proceeding as we speak if there weren't other issues, would they not?

Metro council and the MDHA are cancer

How so? It sounds like the latest proposal is significantly different than what was promised when Council approved the deal. Changing the deal at this point is the developer's doing, and Council is right to call it out. Bust a deal, face the wheel.

But the only reason they changed the design was because the board of the museum asked for it.  If anything, they should direct their concerns towards the museum board.

I feel like Metro Council generally strikes the appropriate balance.  They aren't radical and they don't make many mistakes.......until this issue. Their opposition makes no sense to me whatsoever. Hopefully, the closing makes their misplaced opposition moot and the project can move forward.

Does it ever differ by who is in the council...and who the mayor is?  I don't really have much of a historical perspective of the choices by the council / mayors...and if who the mayor is ever has an effect of the council.
