Not anytime soon. It doesn't have the zoning for it (except for a tiny pocket between Carson & Morehead), and hopefully with the UDO in place we wont have constant rezonings.

Just as long as they don't cut down that magnificent magnolia on the corner! 

I hope their architects can realize that they've had provided to them, for free, what Crescent had to purposefully engineer at Ally Center, and can look to it as an example: A mature, classically Southern tree at the corner, which can serve as a focal point for a neighborhood, pedestrian-oriented plaza, lined by shops, etc.

I agree.  Most developments in the Gold District will probably be in the 4 to 8 story category except for at one or two prime building lots (like near Vantage) maximum.  If the Pandemic Recession hadn’t dried up the Office & Hospitality Markets so drastically, we would probably see office development here but by the time the market pics back up they‘ll be less prime lots available due to all the apartment activity throughout the District.

I do want more towers here but having more residential and retail throughout the District would probably be better in the long run.   More people, more stores make an area more lively although a smattering of towers would be cool too.

Nothing.  I drive by daily and something happened 2/3 months ago.  It stopped and no one is on site since then.

I live right across from it now, and trust me they are working on it daily, just seems groundwork is very slow. They are pouring the ground level floor now, and are about to pour Crossmembers, which will start the second floor soon. I am woken up by the damn whistles every day at 6 when they start the crane.

With all these new residents coming to the Gold District can we get a full time bar or restaurant into the Dog House building? And the retail across the street on Morehead as well. Could be a great little corner especially on gamedays, Panthers and CLTFC.

Not really Gold district as this house seems to be in Wesley Heights but there are plenty of old mine shafts in the Gold District too.

Bound to happen eventually.  We discussed this topic once before and I believe someone mentioned the stadium has settled some already.  Also a problem is methane gas buildup.  That was an issue in the old Little Hardware fire years ago.

I wouldn’t mind this especially at 8 stories(better than the average 4-5 in Southend) if this had a few ground floor retail spots.

Agreed! There aren’t many apartments at 8 stories. It’s usually 4-6 and after that it’s usually a much taller tower.

not really.  it suggests, just like others, 2-3 floors of concrete with 5 floors of wood on top.

Have you ever been over the Palmer street Arcade Bar? It's a gem, quite a hidden secret over here. I am making it a regular hang out.  All the arcade games are free to play and it's quite nice inside, even if you would never know it from the outside.

The Gold district in the rain.  New apartments and the new Altura townhomes.  Couple of these townhomes have closed in the $599 to 705K range and a couple for cash!
