I'm really liking the new one-way with parking on both side on Lincoln St and think this should be recreated all over town.

The businesses in the area didn't support the change, and CDOT did it without asking. Having the two way street made people drive slower (they fly down it now), and made it easier to get around the neighborhood. Charlotte should aim for narrower two way streets vs a one way like this.

If Uptown were all two way streets, it would be a far more enjoyable place...

These districts have names and perhaps histories known to locals but no clear identity markers.  Markers might be some sort of substantial public amenity or gathering place - a signature park or plaza or piazza or fountain or promenade or shopping/entertainment row.  Is there an identity marker for the Gold District, authenticating it as distinct from neighboring areas?

Yes the Gold district should have better branding as it was the home of several gold mines.  I would love to see a small park with historical displays about this.   Charlotte was the site of the first American gold rush until somebody found it out in Cal-LA-for-NIA

Dahlonega Georgia was #2 after NC.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Gold_Rush

There was a mint there also. The U. S. Government is almost required to place a mint where gold is common since without the federal purchase and coinage private parties will do so. This happened in NC. Private coinage is a threat to the authority and standing of the government in a basic way. Thus, a mint to capture the gold coinage and purchases. Even closer to our time we still see the mint locations in San Francisco, Denver, Carson City, locations that are central to mining strikes.

Will be interesting to see the layout of whatever they propose. It looks like a very long narrow strip of land and that’s before they add set backs from the road for a sidewalk. Always thought the only thing that would fit there would be townhomes. Hopefully we’ll see something creative.

For the new apartment building on Church & Bland they've applied for alternative compliance of TOD regs because they're basically just having windows at street level on Bland:

But some new renderings I hadn't seen before:

Are those windows filled with retail?
