Remember that high tech command center built after Katrina?

I guess that's only intended for hurricanes and not organizing sand trucks during cold weather? Ridiculous.

Not much you can do about ice when you don't get it often enough to justify a proper fleet of trucks and a large stockpile of salt.

This.

They used plain topsoil to cover the the bridge between EBR and Ascension on Old Jefferson.

They did that to a lot of bridges. I think DOTD and LSP did a good job considering we don't have that kind of weather often. But it sounds like this was just a warm up to Tuesday.

Last week Weather forecasters called for only a slight chance of wintry precip.. ..10-20% (then they upped it to 40% at last minute; that turned into 60%)...& high temps of 39-40...NOT 28 ALL DAY with sleet lingering into the evening!

They are plenty prepared for tommorrow's Winter Storm....

The last significant ice storm BR has seen of this magnitude was 1981.....no comparison to the numerous hurricanes that frequent the area.

What about 4-5 years about during that snow storm. Pretty sure interstates were shut down for that.

Nope...the Interstates were open. Remember that day very well...Dec 11th 2008...drove on it

Driving on Ice vs Driving on Snow....BIG Difference

That's my point!
