New County Courthouse

Temporary judges' parking lot has curbing.  Once it's done, the new central power plant can be built on the current judges' lot behind the current courthouse.

Edit: Since it's a new page, here's the link to the live construction webcam again.  It shows parking deck construction.

I really like it. I mean, its not perfect, but I think it's well designed and will last a long time. Glad to see this thing taking shape and moving forward!

Now, any word on the city/county building?

I think I read somewhere that we should hear something about the city/county admin building later this year.  Likely the location and site plan first, then renderings after that.  I suspect that process will accelerate now that the courthouse design is complete (groundbreaking projected for July, btw).

I also noticed some initial dismantling has begun on the current courthouse annex that will be demolished first to make room for the new courthouse.

And the parking deck continues to progress.

I know its needed for the courthouse, but that thing is way bigger than I expected it to be.

If anyone ever says they can't find parking in downtown they need to be slapped.

twice and once in the morning. lol. But yes, I thought this thing was going to be smaller also. It's HUGE.

It's pretty much the same size as the Dunbar Street parking deck, but this one is out here all alone, which makes it look bigger.  Once the new courthouse is built, it won't seem quite as large.  But yeah, we have PLENTY of parking downtown.

From the vantage point of the West Main / Daniel Morgan Avenue intersection that garage looks enormous!

Parking deck update: lights are in and have been on at night for several weeks, decorative aluminum fins are up, and now work is being done on Library Street.  Good to see a speed table in the road.  We could use more of those all around downtown for pedestrian crossings.  Garage is supposed to be complete/open in June.  Looks like that's pretty realistic.  Can't wait to take some photos of downtown from the top level.
