JW Marriott - 385' - 34 Floors

Ah dammit, now it’s all I see when I look at it. I can’t unsee this haha.

This building reminds me of the feeling when I watch a fantastic movie and the ending just.....doesn’t....do it justice. The shorter top and the weird letters don’t ruin it - it’s still beautiful - but it just could have been so much more perfect.

The LA JW Looks incredible.

That is one of my favorite skyscrapers. There is also a Ritz Carlton in the same building that takes up the higher floors in the building.

Either the letters aren't finished or this is a huge oversight. The "Marriott" appears to be a Helvetica-like san serif font while the "JW" is the appropriate serif font as seen in the logo below.

Below is Grand Rapids' JWM sign for comparison.

Even the logo on the actual hotel website doesn't match:

I know this is the pretentious designer in me coming out, but unless they're changing the chain's logo, I just don't see any logic behind this. Will the average joe notice? Of course not. But it makes no sense.

I'm more concerned that Grand Rapids, IA had a JW Marriott before Nashville...
