They're going to need it. Hotel restaurants don't typically draw much outside business. Maybe they'll get a high-profile chef. Regardless it's going to be a great addition to the city's portfolio. I am digging the idea of a mid-century motif, and it's okay to bypass the music theme. Nashville is growing up and visitors will enjoy having options.

Looked like construction fencing is up around the Fairlane.    Wish it didn't have to eat a lane of Union St though.

Is the Fairlane construction fencing taking a moving traffic lane or just that lane of metered parking?

I've always liked the bold lines and hard corners here.  'Tis elegant. I wonder if the huge, solid white southern exposure would look good with art on it or not?  Could make for a lively debate.

It'd be an awesome location for a giant mural or maybe some projected art in motion. If it was more highly visible and had a big sightline to a freeway, then it'd have an add on it. Think of the Sheraton Downtown Dallas, but on a smaller scale.

I doubt it would work out that way.  We'd probably get a Skyline or some other atrocious chain instead.

Same here!  The art piece in the back is particularly brilliant.  Your eyes see a pile of scrap metal and trash, but your mind sees Zeus and Aphrodite making love on a comet.  Magnificent!

I like how they have taken out the outer walls along the first floor.  Not sure if this will remain a permanent feature or not.  But it could be very nice as an overhang to outdoor cafe/plaza on each side before entering the lobby.

Agreed! The previous cladding left something to be desired...

One thing is clear, it needs to be cleaned. The building is utterly filthy.

The removal of the walls on the first floor is temporary - they will be replaced so that the footprint of the ground floor is unchanged (just more attractive and functional).
