The Fairlane is opening today.   : )

The 81 rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and semi-transparent peekaboo showers crafted from custom walnut. Other highlights include a 4,000-square-foot penthouse, rooftop neon sign and, in the lobby, a vintage bar cart serving local spirits and bottled Coca Cola in the late afternoon.  It is also home to food and beverage offerings Ellington’s Mid Way Bar & Grill, Mile End Delicatessen, and Union Teller Coffee Counter.

I plan on checking it out in person Saturday after our Urban Planet Meet-Up and snapping more pics.

I hope they have or will spray wash the exterior facade of the tower. It was looking nasty at one point.

My aunt worked in the Fairlane building back in the 1970s and early 1980s for Fidelity Savings and Loan (old school, I know), and it blew her away about how different the building looks when I showed her the pictures. Of course, that was back when you didn’t wander too close to Printers Alley ;)

Ellington's Mid Way Bar & Grill will open to the public on July 27 on the fourth floor of the Fairlane Hotel at 401 Union St. The restaurant is the third dining option to open in the 81-room hotel, behind ground-floor tenants Union Teller Coffee Counter and Mile End Deli.

Ellington’s will serve “timeless all-American fare” and classic cocktails, according to its website. It will be open for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and late-night cocktails.

Like the hotel, the restaurant’s decor features mid-century architectural design with 1960s and ‘70s features. Ellington’s has a wraparound terrace with lounge seating and fire pits, and two private dining rooms.

Cheese Gal, known for its cheese and charcuterie boards, is making the Fairlane its new permanent home. Juniper Green, which offers seasonal event catering and at-home meal options, is popping up for three months at the Fairlane.

Fairlane Hotel has sold for $40 million to a partnership that includes Cedar Capital Partners out of London and Westdale Real Estate Investment out of Dallas.  With 81 rooms, this works out to about 490,000 per room, which is currently the standard for this part of Nashville.
