New Hotels in/around Uptown

No! But that's why its a guess. I love murals, the installation piece just looks cheesy to me. And it just doesn't go with that building at all. It should have been a sleek covering. Too much going on. It looks like I belongs on the side of "Discovery Place." 

Oh, I see. The colors are bright so I can see why it could seem a bit tacky. Specifically the neon. The mismatch of sleek apartments do exaggerate the “tackiness” I’ll say it does look weird if I stare at it long enough. (Still cool cover- better than other places by miles). Though it’s a good cover imo I see what you mean now.

I am a fan of the Wanderwall and at least it gives something to look at from the 2 adjacent hotels and those on 277 driving by.

Yes that is exactly what I am talking about. I said this before and was attacked lol. I don't think that it is ugly at all but it looks very elementary on a more mature looking building.

Yeah, we have to stop doing that over simple tastes such as these. Despite our disagreement I can see your point of view somewhat and don’t need to attack you because you stated your opinion. Wouldn’t want to be treated that way myself.

from yesterday.  it will be good to see this hotel done.

on another note to get our 1000 room convention hotel why not an additional tower for 400 room Hilton Hotel on the surface parking lot on the other side of the tracks from the existing hotel and across the street from the convention hotel.  Maybe a 30 story addition with rooftop restaurant and I think the NC RR owns that lot.  Rebrand the Hilton the Signa which is their new big convention hotel brand (and they are building one of these in Atlanta)  https://www.hilton.com/en/signia-hilton/   This could be done more economically and give us the 1000 room hotel everyone says we need with a 600 room edition.  

disclosure I am a Hilton Honors member and Marriott really dominates uptown Charlotte market.

Building new hotels in Charlotte (Center City) seems to have lagged behind its Peer Cities.  I wonder if that’ll change in the next year or two?

the Element by Westin inching closer to completion.  The Moxy is under construction now as well.  Hopefully as reported the Intercontinental will restart. 

Last photo is the Midnight Diner construction.  With the Moxy on the same block and a hotel right across the street I would expect this location to do great (also right by the Spectrum Arena)

What’s the retail situation looking like for the Element? Home 2 Suites did a nice job incorporating a lot of retail down below with the Starbucks, fifth third branch and cvs. Not sexy retail but convenient retail so you don’t have to drive if you live uptown or nearby.
