RustTown 60 Report post Posted August 3, 2014 The Lansing area's new Amtrak station started site prep work a few days ago. Along with that, they released the formal rendering, finally: Capital Area Multi-modal Gateway by NewCityOne, on Flickr The complex includes a station building with a waiting area with concession space and restrooms, and ticketing and baggage-processing for both Amtrak and the inter-city buses. Outside there is an inter-city bus canopy (pictured partially to the left) and a bike parking/storage building (not pictured to the right). There is also a gathering area and parking. The complex has the ability to have another platform along the south side of the site, which could be used for regional rail to Detroit, or for the proposed Coast-to-Coast service between West Michigan and Metro Detroit. All-and-all, I think for the tight budget they were on, they did very well with this, and certainly better than either the original concept for the site and what's currently there. RustTown 60 Report post Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) From March 20th: The intercity bus canopy looks to have been added since the last update. Megabus, Greyhound and Indian Trails will service the station with the CATA bus shelter out along the perimeter along Harrison Road. It will be faced with stainless steel as is visible in the rendering. Edited March 22, 2015 by Lmichigan

RustTown 60 Report post Posted January 28, 2016 After months of delays arguing over the lease, the Capital Area Multimodal Gateway, the region's new train station and one of its intercity bus stations, opened on Monday. Here are some photos of the first day from the Michigan Department of Transportation facebook page: The station also have the space for a platform on the south side of the site in case there is ever regional rail between Lansing and Grand Rapids and Lansing and Detroit on the CSX Plymouth Subdivision which crosses the CN Flint Subdivision at this location.

RustTown 60 Report post Posted March 9, 2016 There is the overhang over the outdoor benches. More than that though, are the internal vestiubles which can be accessed even after the station is closed for the day.
