616 is all over the place these days.  It looks like maybe the brick portion fronts Plainfield and the rest of the units fall in behind.   Article mentioned a couple other projects going on in Creston too.   I've long thought Creston was under it's potential,  definitely great infrastructure in the neighborhood for gentrification.

This one is an awesome photo showing both the old and the new in a Great Lakes industrial context.  (That may be awkward wording, but that's what I immediately Thought of.)

Thanks! That descriptions seems apropo. :) That area is the Heartside Historic District, with much of it still intact and dating back to the industrial late 19th Century/early 20th. A lot of infill going on there too.

Michigan & Eastern- is that a small runway on the roof?

Bobville/tower- is that still in a dream state?

820 Monroe- hard to see here, but (I believe) the restaurant is separate from the existing bldg.  Also, yet another brewery is seeking financing for 820 proper.

And a big thanks to all the photographers and rendering collectors here @ UP.

I too wonder what that "architectural" detail is. Looks like a plank, planking.

Venue Tower at the BOB is supposed to begin in 2015. I heard from both horses' mouths (both partners on it) that they are timing it to begin when Arena Place tops out (?) so the two projects won't be competing against one another for renters.

These are all the images I was able to dig up for 820.

85 units, market rate, ground floor restaurant and retail space

I don't think this one is up to date, as that big structure in the middle is gone now, and doesn't appear on the site plan.

It also has a plank, with a hole in it. :)

With all this housing either recently completed or just now being designed, has anyone put together a map showing number of new units?  I'm interested in seeing the population growth/shift.

Just saw this. An interactive map would be cool but that's a pretty large undertaking.

However... I did set it up and added a few projects. If anyone wants to help collaborate on it, shoot me a message so I can add you.

Would the Waters building count?

Funny- I honestly could not pick out where that building was located (which they mention in the article) until I saw the fugly one-story add-on. I hope they rip that down (the addition, not the building- :) I love the brick work).

That ugly one story addition is very much coveted indoor parking. I used to walk by the garage door in the alley and it would be open sometimes, and I always thought it'd be a great live music venue (like a pop-up concert venue).

The ridiculous comments on this article and any like it, are the same no matter what city any particular development is in.  The internet has successfully put a lot of out of touch souls in touch with everyone else.  SMH.

I know, so many people making comments like "The city should stop building apartments here and should work on filling up the apartments over there first." As if there's some wizard behind a screen who is dictating where people live. The dismal educational system in this country has created generations of people who have no idea how the world works.
