Plaza-Shamrock - Corner of PM and NoDa

There are more tear downs on Shamrock around the Cardiff Connecticut area.   A lot down the street has been opened up. Gone for a week, so I don't remember what was there. I know there was a dark green brick house, but not sure if there were more houses there.  It has turned into a very large lot with the trees being harvested and taken out.  Anyone know (Matthew B) what's going in there. I assume more big houses. Also, what is the building going in even closer to Eastway.  One story modern building with lots of paved parking..  Looks like they may be finishing it.  It has been under construction or remodeling for a few years.  There is so many houses going up in the area, it becomes hard to keep up.  Within the Shamrock, Cardiff, Connecticut and Springway area there are at least 7 or 8 houses under construction or finished and for sale.  One house on Springway is listed for $599,000.  Affordable housing is being eaten up here.

I’ve noticed this corner building getting updated at the corner of Eastway and Central and today they have signage up for Skrimp Shack.

I couldn’t snap a pic in time driving by, but there is a chain link fence up with a Demo company sign around Crystals. rip.

They have demolished an elementary school (Shamrock Gardens, maybe) on Shamrock,  across from Pike's Pharmacy strip center.  Anyone know what is being built there?  I was by there a few days ago and the only thing still standing was the chimney. Those old buildings were meant to last.  Lots of brick debris.

PROGRESS

The Shamrock Gardens Elementary Replacement School (17) project was approved by BOE on December 8th, 2020. Notice to proceed has been issued to the construction manager. The project consist of a 45-classroom school located on the existing elementary school campus.

Aw you just reminded me of Letty's. I loved going there when I was in NoDa - how have they weathered covid?

Letty's has managed to stay open.  I think it is still take out only.

Looks like Mattie’s Diner was on the move today to its new home at 3100 The Plaza.  Article is subscriber only but says it should open in about two months and they are rehabbing an old tire shop next door that will be attached to the diner and contain additional seating and also the kitchen and bathrooms.  I’m not sure if this will be an auxiliary kitchen since Mattie’s had the one inside the trailer already.  Looking forward to trying their new vegan meatloaf!
