gman 150 Report post Posted October 30, 2014 Looks like this project is finally moving forward: http://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/local/greer/2014/10/30/bass-pro-shops-buys-land-development-near-greer/18195421/
MAJIKMAN 25 Report post Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) I just read that article and think that that council man is exaggerating just a bit. Saying that folk from Charlotte and Atlanta are going to come to Greer, excuse me Spartanburg (chuckle), to shop at Bass Pro Shop. And this store is going to be a game changer is shear fantasy. Well maybe in spartanburg it will, but not for everyone. I do understand his excitement for his community. But please. Let's be real Edited October 31, 2014 by MAJIKMAN
apaladin 96 Report post Posted October 31, 2014 LOL, I guess he doesn't know that Atlanta and Charlotte have BPS. Although in Spartanburg County, like the airport it's a lot closer to Greenville than Spartanburg which in this respect is a good thing but I'm not a big fan of this project. Not sure how much this will increase traffic but there is enoough on 85 now.
mallguy 49 Report post Posted November 1, 2014 The guy in the article who makes such over-the-top statements about the Bass Pro Shops opening clearly isn't the type of person who would say something similar about a Neiman Marcus opening.
MAJIKMAN 25 Report post Posted November 3, 2014 My point exactly apaladin. My point exactly. My point exactly on both points
NBNY2GRNVL 33 Report post Posted August 22, 2015 At least 1 year until Bass Pro Shops opens in Spartanburg Co. http://www.foxcarolina.com/story/29854821/at-least-1-year-until-bass-pro-shops-opens-in-spartanburg-co
gman 150 Report post Posted September 16, 2015 This is only a rumor, but I am hearing BMW is doing all they can to stop this project. It seems as though they don't want the potential traffic that will come to 101 and I-85.

vicupstate 710 Report post Posted September 17, 2015 Good, put it at Laurens and I-85 where they had originally planned. Which corner? The Verdae one is the only one that is vacant.

vicupstate 710 Report post Posted September 18, 2015 Exactly...Big Box is not part of the Verdae Master Paln as far as THAT corner goes. That was probably an issue too at the time.
gman430 9038 Report post Posted September 18, 2015 BPS has never been planned for this intersection.
SVL 579 Report post Posted September 18, 2015 I think I-85/Hwy 14 area was considered a few years ago for BPS.

Many situations with this...negative aspects may outweigh the positives. It could happen...way down the road. BP also purchased property on I-26 (near Inman)...this area /site may appear more promising for a major development.
ausrutherford 115 Report post Posted December 30, 2018 It is a spot that did not make much sense to me. The original site at Verdae made much more sense. They would of had a higher population density nearby and foot traffic from the future trail.
