Is it a catastrophic calamady that a crane is up longer than usual? I'm  assuming it will come down when it's no longer needed...am I missing something?

Catastrophic calamity? It's a simple construction question. There's no criticism implied.

So, yes, I'd say you missed the point--or better, the tone--of the question.

Thanks. Here's the genesis of my question:

1) Camperdown crane went up on July 10 and is already down;

2) Markley Place crane went up last April and is still up;

3) Markley Place is a fraction the size of Camperdown;

4) Both are residential.

So, is there something about the way it's being constructed that accounts for the Markley Place crane standing so much longer than Camperdown? Those cranes can't be cheap.

That is strange....must have continued construction needs that make it necessary to be available.  Someone should stop by and ask "Hey, why y'all still got that big expensive crane still up? "  :tw_glasses:

Or, somebody who knows about this kind of thing could enlighten those of us who occasionally like to get down into the weeds of construction.

My questions is technical. It's not the exclamation, "Wow, look how long the Markley Crane has been up!!!" masquerading as a question. And yes, I'm sure there's a good reason for it. I'd like to actually know the reason, because as they say, inquiring minds like to know.

To add to the question: since Camperdown is reinforced concrete, you have to wait for the concrete to cure before you build on top of it, right? That would seem to add to the construction time. OTOH, Markley Place looks kind of like a gigantic Lego, what with all the metal supports and framing. It seems that you would just build upward relatively quickly. Once the superstructures are in place, then I would think the rest of the work would be virtually identical.

So, why is Markley Place's construction apparently a slower process? Anybody?
