Big cities are dominating the recovery, leaving the rest of America behind

I don't know if being the #26 MSA puts us in "big city" territory, but this did highlight something I've been wondering about. Orlando's tourism industry is going great guns and here at UP we've so started taking announcements of new projects for granted that we're bummed if there's not another project announced several times a week. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I have had trouble reconciling the local economy with all the gloom and doom you hear on the news.

 

One other thought: if you take a look at that pic of San Jose, they don't seem to have many tall buildings and they seem to be doing alright <g>.
