JFW657 4539 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 Too bad something like that didn't go up on Central across from Lake Eola. It'll be hidden back on Church St.
mcn11 40 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 I think the location should be good. Right across from artisan 420 and right at a lymmo stop. Should begin to fill the area between central and south and provide a reason for people to get off central.
FLheat 72 Report post Posted November 24, 2014 That visor unsupported on the corner kind of scares me. I hope a hurricane updraft won't cause it to come crashing down.
UPSDAN 31 Report post Posted November 24, 2014 It's supported now; that was part of recent changes. There is a newer rendering out there as well.
tennis32801 103 Report post Posted December 10, 2014 Just noticed today that there's a sign up for public notice hearing, but it has a date of November 11, so I guess it already passed unless it meant December 11?
cwetteland 290 Report post Posted December 19, 2014 According to the OBJ, this site, (formally the site for the Montage) was just sold to a Naples architect.
Jernigan 2652 Report post Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) Confused on this - is this a news development? The city approved Summa (the firm from Naples) to build Citi Tower - so they would have already owned the land? Edited December 19, 2014 by Jernigan
cwetteland 290 Report post Posted December 19, 2014 It is confusing. The article was updated since this morning. It says that Summa got permission from the city to build and that they selected the construction company, but it still says they only purchased the site 2 days ago (on the 17th). I'm lost. steve_o 149 Report post Posted December 20, 2014 isn't the montage site a few blocks from where citi tower is going?
cwetteland 290 Report post Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) isn't the montage site a few blocks from where citi tower is going? Don't think so. Even one of the OBJ articles says "formally the montage site." You might be thinking of the Monarch which was a few blocks southwest. UPSDAN 31 Report post Posted December 20, 2014 This site will be built on soon regardless.

RedStar25 312 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 The old montage site is down the block. The OBJ can be sloppy.
Pete C 138 Report post Posted December 23, 2014 Citi Tower is going on 101 Lake Ave which is the old Montage site. I lived at the Paramount, and the sign for the Montage was right on that corner plot for the entire 2 years I lived there. Here is an article from that time... http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2008-10-13/business/real13_1_montage-downtown-orlando-lake-eola

gibby 658 Report post Posted February 17, 2015 Looks like this permit (for the foundation) is pretty close to being ready. If I had to guess, I'd expect to see work starting in about a week or maybe two. I'm really excited about this one.
jrs2 2380 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 seriously? if so, this would be a good close-in-time groundbreaking to The Sevens and keep the downtown development momentum going.
jack 390 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 I hope they move forward but I will believe it when I see it.
prahaboheme 1658 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 seriously? if so, this would be a good close-in-time groundbreaking to The Sevens and keep the downtown development momentum going. Nice to see residential development in the southern edges of South Eola neighborhood - Citi, 420, and Thornton Park brownstones. For being such a desirable section of downtown, South Eola has felt broken to me due to the demolition of homes and lots cleared for development that have been left empty for years. JFW657 4539 Report post Posted February 20, 2015 Still wish this one could've gone up on Central across from Eola Park.. Nice looking building. Woulda looked fantastic rising up from across the lake.

Where do you suggest it go up? I can't think of where you're referencing. I like the location of this project. Right now it's a dirt parking lot and should go a long way in leading the development between central and south street.
