Citi Tower | 23-Story Residential [Under Construction]

Food for thought:  With Citi Tower rising and 420 Church nearing completion, this will be the first north/south stretch of the South Eola neighborhood with an uninterrupted streetwall between Central and South streets.  This neighborhood has been cut up and dissected over the years by overly optimistic developers who came up short and left us with empty lots.  It's nice to see some density repairing the damage.

Sadly, Lake Avenue does not really make it to South Street uninterrupted.  The poorly located retirement home building is in the way.

It looks like the retirement home building occupies the vacated 60' right of way.  The original 1888 plat shows Lake Street continuing through to South Street, but an ordinance dated December 1966 (Official Records Book 1594 / Page 65) vacated the ROW.  A second ordinance was recorded in February 1967 (OR 1611 / 653), which amended the first.  Same land described in both though.  Not sure what politics were at play to cause the abandonment.  Interesting.

Should be able to see the crown with a visual impact of the top floor features and lighting over the Paramount, as it is several stories taller. Additionally, the diagonal placement of Waverly with gap between it and the Paramount means you will be able to see almost a full elevation of the building from the NW corner of Lake Eola park near Relax grill.  It will be exciting to see this top out for sure!  I think it is one of the better designs of the recently proposed high rises.

Here is a photo from the lobby of the Landmark II Building directly across the lake.  You can see the cranes from this building site through the gap in the buildings, and this is from the eastern Landmark building further toward the middle of the lake.  I would assume it will make a big visual impact anywhere in the NW corner of the park from here all the way to the bandshell.
