Old Salem & MESDA

This is a progressive year for the historic district, and the general area of downtown.

Salem College is currently constructing a new housing structure across from the Fogle Flats at South Main & Cemetery Street which will be in view of the center city, and I40.

2015 is the 50th anniversary year for MESDA, and the museum has been undergoing overhaul for several years and the holdings have been expanded.  The period rooms have been reinterpreted by an advisory panel that includes experts and designers from NYC, Colonial Williamsburg, and Athens, GA.

According to the lastest issue of Old Salem Magazine, the Boy's School at Main & Academy on Salem Square will undergo an extensive renovation and restoration, and the area behind it adjacent to Winkler Bakery will see the reconstruction of what was in the 18th-century referred to as "the Piazza".
