I thought it got 1 floor shorter to 8...

Some may think the design is bland (and that may be true) but what this project is going to do for a formerly very desolate part of uptown is incredible. Today all angles.

I like the looks of this building a lot. Especially the big base of apartments lining 277. The high rise and low rise portion of this project look separate to me. I like it from every angle in real life. The exposed parking deck, I'm withholding judgement. 

And also, the mock up of the exterior at Legacy Tower looks great. Especially the glass. I also think that is going to be one stunner of a building and I don't think it will look as squat as some of the renderings suggest. 

It's a smaller rendering, but the tower doesn't look so squat in the zoomed out portion of the rendering that shows DEC. DEC makes it look more slender. 

 

 

I'm off topic but it's because these two projects get lots of hate and I think they look great. I mean. Better than some others.

Don't be so sure, I live in one of these uptown communities and about 6 months ago they sent out a Memo asking everyone to remove their flags from the exterior to "preserve the beauty of our community." If we didn't we would be fined.

^^^ I like the college flags it breaks up the monotony of these buildings.  Use your college flag as a curtain.

Maybe they don't want to deal with KKK or rebel flags or whatever.

As an owner I would not want my building to look like a college dorm.

In property management, office staff always have regional or visiting executive managers who fear that any form of unique decor from balconies will harm the appeal to both renters and current/prospective lenders. Whether it's flags, xmas lights, or bug nets in the summer.

I call hogwash, but I'm not the one in charge.

To monetize the site they were definitely needed. I would have liked to see this organized in a way that a superblock was avoided. 4 separate high rises with a central green area.

The crane base for the new Home2Suites hotel was installed within the last few days..... expect to see the full crane up soon.

I supposed you are correct. I just hate the architecture use in it, And this is coming from someone who tends to like South End apartments, However the colors and the materials used are terrible not to mention they are on the verge of a busy freeway.

It would look better if there were varying elevations and rooflines. If it wasn’t just one blob of windows and balconies it’d be so much better.
