Make that 2 who like it.  I love it for what it will do for Stonewall St retail, residents, hotels in a formerly no man zones of uptown.

I do too.  I’m not architecturally savvy, but I think it will be a great contrast from all the glass going up.  And I’m honestly glad that a lot of these building will add or just blend in.  A lot of “signature” buildings would look odd.  Reminds me of when I played Sim City 3000 when I was a kid and put all of the worlds best skyscrapers together in my downtown.  Would look too “artificial” if that makes any sense at all...

Street engagement and putting people in uptown>dick measuring skyscrapers for the next decade... even though it sounds like the new Duke may be one of those.  But I’m not mad at that either.  Dilly dilly.

4  I like Crescent Stonewall because it helps to bridge the gap that 277 created. I like BOAT because I've always wanted to see a tower with a pyramid roof in Charlotte's skyline.  I also can't wait to see it lit up during a Panther's broadcast.

It’s growing on me. But it only has one redeemable side and that’s what bothers me so much. The most visible side was the most forgotten about.

I like that it has a Whole Foods.   Don't care for the design.  I think if the retail space was much smaller and was only going to be, say... two restaurants instead of the Whole Foods, I'd probably really dislike this project.

Yeah, let me clarify my position. I like that this development is happening. I like that it has a major retail component. I like its relation to the light rail. There are many positive aspects to it. What I do not like is simply the way the apartment portion is so huge, so homogeneous, and so imposing. I would still say it's a good project overall, but aesthetically speaking it isn't to my taste. I'd rather see smaller, taller buildings or, if this size is the most economical, less "superblock" style development. My wife calls this the "Great Wall of Charlotte" driving by it on 277.

I was just listening to a course on urban life in ancient cities and in the lecture on ancient Rome the lecturer mentioned they had apartment buildings called "insulae" that took up an entire city block (I think there would have been a courtyard in the middle). When he mentioned that I immediately thought of some of Charlotte's recent projects.

Any current estimates on the Whole Foods opening? This project feels like it is moving so quickly it could actually make the Spring 2018 estimate.

Today on a misty day the project that is going to deliver much needed retail and life to a formerly desolate corner of uptown.  and deliver a full sized grocery store and 2 hotels to boot talk about animating the street scene.

The approved plans for the Even Hotel has been posted. Looks pretty similar to the Home 2 Suites.

 I felt the same way. As ugly as these buildings are however, it should have one of the best pedestrian scale frontages. The brick buildings are great, unfortunately its the ugly towers that will be viewable from a mile away.

I think it's pretty good.  Hopefully, the WF will have $2 drafts on Thursdays.
