Looks like the vine is morning glory.

Will be interesting to see if it dies in winter frost.

Was just about to post that....yes, with those color flowers, that is almost certainly Morning Glory, but I think there are 2 different plants growing together.

Yes there were some white flowers mixed into that vine as well.

I can't believe a vine has been discussed since August 15th. The voices in my head are screaming in agony for it to stop...

^^^ I guess the only reason it is discussed there was a certain 32 story apartment tower that called itself the uptown stunner that was supposed to have lush vines hiding its parking garage and it has never had more than a few twigs and dead vines.   And said tower is owned by the largest apartment management company in the nation.    Then in a building described as bland and ugly up pops a lush vine that adds greenery to an otherwise dull side of the building.

Home2Suites hotel at SS and the exhaust vent for the prepared foods area of Whole Foods. On that upper plaza by the station you can smell pizza cooking, barbecue, changing flavors LOL. And since someone mentioned it the vine lady balcony vineyard.   and your bonus shots of 615 South College Regions bank building that sold for almost $600 a sq ft a Charlotte record.

Today and maybe not the most attractive project in the city but it does activate the street in a former no man's land of uptown.

Photo of the part of artwork that will not ever be blocked. Updated photo of vine lady's porch or entitled the vines Ascent could not grow yet promised to grow.

What are the odds the Stonewall/Caldwell intersection will ever be pared down? It's so big, and even when cornered by these huge buildings will still feel so wide-open.

 It is the "main" intersection between the primary corridors leading to Park Rd and South Blvd, two of the biggest commuting corridors in the city. Could there be any hope?

A few years ago I attended an "Urban Bikeway Design" workshop in Charlotte put on by CDOT and NACTO. They had us do a workshop where we re-designed this intersection to accommodate all modes... it was very difficult.

We should add a awesome staircase and tower to the side of the Great Wall of Charlotte. Charlott's first Mega Tourist Attraction.

I am going to have to ask for royalties from @ricky_davis_fan_21 if my perfectly fine photos are doctored up LOL 

I specifically took the photo of the great wall of Charlotte for him. 

And don't forget the Wanderwall art installation as part of the attraction and as long as WF validates my parking I am okay with it. 

Speaking of art and attractions, Charlotte's favorite and most photographed vine that bedevils those over at the Ascent.

wish the hotel closest to 277 was 9 stories and the one closest to stonewall was 13 to break up the wall and for pics from southend.  Could have been an easy ask/requirement by developer which then gives you 5 story apartment, 20 floor tower, 13 story hotel, and 9 story hotel to create contrast...

 

also underwhelmed by how the plaza off of the light rail was integrated ... when I was there last week it was just dead.... other than that lots better than nothing there

^^ You will see the Wanderwall always from 277 and between the 2 hotels there is a private street that you can see not to mention from the hotel rooms of course.

Breaking news the vines from the Vine lady are gone or have died.   Only a little bit remains.

Morning Glory is an annual so the tenant may have just cut it back prior to first frost. It was unlikely they were going to survive winter, so a little preventive maintenance by a good gardener.

I noticed they were looking rough last weekend. Wanted to take a picture but my train was pulling in. Hopefully they'll be back come spring.
