Crescent Stonewall Station

I'm interested in getting more details on this project. Some things don't 100% add up.

This page by the Architect states the site's size at 3.6 acres.

http://www.theprestonpartnership.com/project/crescent-charlotte-uptown/?cat=current-projects

However, the site is actually 1.8+3.6=5.4 acres. That means there is a entire 1.8 acres unaccounted for. This leads me to think that What we have seen designed so far might only make to 2/3 of the way to Caldwell, and then there will be 1-2 hotel buildings fronting Caldwell. Maybe thats how all of this fits on the lot.

My guess is they are making the hotels 'planned' until they have partners officially sign on. It seems like they are doing the same thing with 300 S Tryon, in that there really are no renderings of the hotel side and its listed as a 'planned' hotel.

  • 4 weeks later...

Pollack Shores has put in a bid of $12M to buy the parcel across Caldwell from the Crescent site. I'm guessing they are planning to build apartments at this site if they win the bid.

Pollack shores laying a 6 floor turd beside the most amazing project in Charlotte in 10 years, woo!

Hats off to you Jayvee on obtaining all this info and the skyline renderings with those Crescent projects... A treat for us all. Well done!

They could totally reconfigure those "future development" sites for a JW Marriott or convention center type hotel. Those two in the rendering almost look underwhelming given the location.

It would definitely be cool if they could work out a 700+ room convention hotel at this location... And, seeing this picture, a casino across Caldwell. But that's another story.

Yeah honestly there wasn't much of anything about the hotels, and they almost seemed like an after thought. That tells me either A) they already have partners REALLY close to a deal so they don't need to market it or B) its a "future" plan that may not happen if they don't see a need.

Thanks! I just so happened to be riding my bike by Goodyear at the right time. Hope Crescent is cool with the word getting out there ha

At 3.2mm an acre?  Nah, I don't think the economics work for that.  I'd imagine something along the scale of the Crescent project as far as maybe mid-rise stick-built, ,but they're going to need a lot of premium units at that land costs, so at least partial high-rise.

I'd love to see that, but their track record is tract homes and stick built apartments... I hope they are outbid.

Oh I also forgot to upload this. This was on the back of a The Skyline Series bookmark/card thing they gave out. They never explained it but I am assuming it will be the common color theme they are using?? The Tryon Sky is close to what the color of Tryon Place looked to be now (definitely lighter than the picture leads on).

When I moved here in 2008, I heard a rumor a Bloomingdales would be going into the base of the DEC, or maybe another building that was planned but never built?  Do any of you have a recollection of this?

One of my wife and my favorite things to do is go to Bloomingdales in Midtown NYC.  We go every time we are there.  One minute you are on the street and the next inside a fun, high end department store.  If a Bloomingdales or Nordstroms goes in here, I would always go here over Southpark...
