Amazon 2.  So Amazon isn't going to use this tower immediately due to market conditions?  Do we know how much interior will be finished once the windows are up?

I think it's inevitable for Amazon to utilize at least some of the tower. With the increased purchases and expansions of the Amazon empire, plus the overall strength of the ecommerce sector, I would bet that Amazon is keeping this tower "in their back pocket" for fast future expansion and growth. 

Amazon just purchased One Medical for $3 billion and purchased iRobot for $1.7 billion--expanding into healthcare moreso and Artificial Intelligence. 

I'd be very surprised if this tower sat for longer than a year, exterior completed, without interior done.

They are halting construction as they go through re-design of their interior spaces. It is not like they are halting the project entirely per say, but construction needs to halt on the interior build outs in order to redesign to occur. Office space is radically being reworked due to the pandemic's influence on the traditional office.

Personally, I wouldn't expect a dramatically long delay. They are still building out certain lobbies and common spaces, so I don't even know if the delay will be long enough for contractors to pull off the site. We have to remember that Amazon has a signed and executed lease on these two towers, so while they may not be paying full rent on them while sit unfinished, they are still paying something so it incentivizes Amazon to get the spaces finished and used. Groups like Amazon, Oracle, Facebook and even furniture companies like Steelcase are doing TONS of research about what the "office of the future" is looking like.

Definitely there appears quite a bit of misinformation about the intent of Amazon per the NY towers.  IMO there is NO WAY that Amazon is actually halting  or abandoning these towers as the recent additional acquisitions will certainaly go a long way in filling up the shell space involved,  There is nothing to preclude building the towers and leaving floors just shell space until needed or leased out.  That is how spec office buildings have always filled up.  What I think is being paused is the INTERIOR DESIGN of the floors that Amazon will occupy.  The last few years of Covid  at home work have shown that a full office space for each employee  is no longer necessary and that  the interior space may be built with a higher efficiency of useage.  I think that ultimately Amazon will completely fill the redesigned square footage and will require even more.  I also suspect this one of the things that Oracle for instance  is also working on right now which seems to have slowed active work somehat too.  As Oracle hasn't started the physical shell of its office buildings, they have a great deal more latitude in requirements for support facilities such as more parking,  toilet and core support areas.  As physical construction costs continue to rise with inflation and interest rates are going up, I don't see much point in delaying what they already have been prepared to build.  I think they are just taking advantage to getting more eventual bang for the bucks they already have budgeted.

It does make me wonder about Amazon 3, though.  I just have no idea how many of Amazon’s workers will stay on as “at home” workers now (if any).  If Amazon decides that a certain segment are ok to stay at home…maybe they won’t need tower 3 right now?

I agree with you take on it being the crown jewel.  Really hoping it materializes in its 600' fashion.

Yeah, totally agree. I 100% think they will build it. It's not only the centerpiece for NY but a huge addition to the Nashville office space and skyline in general. Even with the remote working component very popular these days, I think this tower has a demand to be met, if not now, in the near future. 

We'll see. But I'd be absolutely shocked if the tower just halted construction once the foundation and garage piece were built.

All 3 Amazon buildings are the center piece of the Nashville Yards project, Amazon 3 is just the tallest building in the project. And if Amazon 3 gets built as a 600 footer it would be the only other office building to be a 600 footer besides the batman building in Nashville

Not only the 3 Amazon buildings , but also the Pinnacle tower and the residential buildings and of course the Grand Hyatt , are all amazing buildings in their own ways. But A3 being the tallest and most prominent of the group, makes it stand at the top of this development. Fun fact ; the AT&T (Batman)building is listed at 617 feet , making it the tallest in the state. But it’s only 28 stories and the roof is 452feet , there’s 165 feet of spires . So if A3 gets built as currently spected at 43 stories, it will be the tallest occupied floors for a office tower in the state.
