MGM/AEG update: 

Michael Roth, AEG vice president of communications, emailed the Post the company has no updates to share. He said in October 2020 that AEG “remains enthusiastic” about both the Nashville Yards project and the Nashville market in general. At the time, Roth said construction should resume in 2021.

"... the prospects for successful completion and opening of this exciting project will be best served by waiting until we are emerging from the pandemic before proceeding with the next phase," Roth said last October. "We do not have a definitive timetable yet, but expect that conditions will allow for a start of vertical construction sometime in 2021.”

Sounds like they’re still unsure of what the entertainment industry is going to look like in the future.  Will theaters get back to 2019 levels…or has the industry found a way to stream and make more money…thus eliminating the need for large theater complexes?  Do they need a smaller or larger music performing room?  Is there a different future emerging?

I have a feeling that if they eventually go forward with this…it will be a little different than the previous plans.

Curious to see what happens with their new space. That area of town can get really congested.

Pinnacle Financial Partners will be moving their HQ from the 2nd Ave. South tower to a new 34 story (approx. 575 ft.), 650,000 sq. ft., office/28,000 sq. ft. retail space in Nashville Yards. The new structure will have a trapezoidal shape. Groundbreaking should be the 4th quarter of this year. 

As the anchor tenant Pinnacle will take up about 95,000 sq. ft. of the structure initially and get the signage rights.  There will also be an additional  10,000 sq. ft. bank branch somewhere in Nashville Yards (not sure if it will be in this building or not).

Pinnacle tower looks to be 37 floors based on my count. Probably around 540’ depending on floor count. 
 

Looks like the upgraded residential building is going to happen. 
 

Wonder what will happen with their space in the current building. That end of town is super congested and loud now, so I’d imagine that space will be difficult to fill.

As I said before the massing of this project changed from the start and continues to change. I was wondering when Pinnacle would decide to build another tower to keep up with it amazing growth rate over the past few years and he answer came faster than I had thought. 

This rendering goes back to the one we saw several months ago that was showing two massive towers and we were told then there was nothing up......again a false hood as they were Covering Their A$$ and we have seen this time and time again that PR firms or not told the truth by the firms they are representing about what is really going on. So why have PR firms when they are going to get caught in lies.

This building seems to be a sure thing as construction is set to start the 4th quarter of this year! The residential tower to the right seems to be flirting with 420'.

It's not a box!  What's the building to the north of this tower?  Located at the site that was planned for Amazon 3 (tallest of their buildings), it looks like a twin to the Pinnacle tower.  Does that mean Pinnacle is building both?

Additionally,  this close-up of the primary residential tower now looks to be 38 stories with a large pedestal built immediately to the north of the Grand Hyatt. Smeags is guessing it to be around 420'.  Now word on how many units, when it will break ground, etc. 

And Amazon Tower Three (1001 Church St.) now appears to be 29 or 30 stories, probably around 490'?

No I think that will more than likely be Amazon 3 or at least that is what is in the rumor mill! Amazon 3 would go just south of the viaduct and this would be just south of that.

@downtownresident : great line-up showing SWVP's project metamorphosis. To that point - the 4th pic (2nd from bottom) - doesn't even look like Nashville! Not only that, it doesn't even include full massing in SoBro, the Gulch nor Midtown. Quite remarkable, really. And exciting...

I don't want to drift off topic but I can't help but wonder if that might increase the possibility of another slender tall building next to the Four Seasons like they'd wanted to build in the first place!

Love the new design. Agree with downtownresident, probably 540’ range. Absolutely impressive irrespective of height. This is turning out to be what we all saw as it’s potential. Yeah, would be nice if  there were a 700’ er mixed in there but it will come. With the way this is evolving, who knows.

If I were a betting man, with no inside information,  the 700’ building will likely be a residential building on a near by lot, and may come sooner than we think. 
 

Edit: this will be very prominent in the skyline. Excited to see how this and the Highwoods development stretch the skyline further west.

It’s almost like a mini Hudson Yards with the angular shapes of these new buildings. Absolutely love it and I’m pumped that these (hopefully) will start by years end.
