I know that during the lull, there were many shots of the parking deck screening, yet I didn't realize until this photo just how obscured it will be.  Hoping there will be some aesthetic overlay though.  That drab white "hunk" seems to not fit with the overall look.  Anybody know???

Well, Amazon is claiming that its buildings in Arlington, VA are designed to be aesthetically and environmentally pleasing to the surrounding areas.  So, I hope they will do something to address the bluntness of the parking deck on their second tower in Nashville.  Maybe they'll find a way to grow trees and bushes on it so that it become an eco system as they are planning with their Helix Building.   Which they are now claiming will be an extension of the walking trails of that area into their building....

Amazon One update: Starbucks inside the first Amazon Tower has been issued a $79,760 permit to build out at 105 Platform Way (Upper 10th Ave. North). Venture Construction will handle the work.

News on the AEG section of Nashville Yards:

-The 4,000 seat theater will be modeled after The Mission Ballroom in Denver (flexible standing or seating).

- The Theater looks to be incorporated into 12-13 story structure that will feature 275,000 sq. ft. of office space.

- 3 additional towers in 25-30 story range each (based on the rendering) with high-end apartments, featuring approx. 1,000 units collectively. Two of them appear to border the west side of 9th Ave. North.

- The multiplex cinema will remain with 8 screens.

- A collection of food, beverage, and shopping offerings.

-Several plaza/green spaces for relaxation.

- The MGM Hotel (21 stories, 315 rooms) is no longer part of the plan.

- Southwest Value Partners (the primary developers of Nashville yards) will now be co-developers with AEG on this 7 acre district. 

- Construction should start by the beginning of 2022.

Woah!  They've obviously seen the potential of taking Lower Broadway and "extending" it to 9th Avenue and Church... with a little 'touch' to Broadway.   I'd guess that the immediate success of 5th & Broad has made them look at the potential for this with great promise.  I'm even going to stick my neck out and say that within a decade Nashville will (could?) have one of the Top 10 downtowns for entertainment. I'd say it's a Top 15-20 now.

My hope that there is a lot more retail included. With the number of residents that will be in the Yards area, they will have to have at least one big box type retailer like Target. It will be interesting to see what kind of other retail they do get. It all cannot be aimed at the Country tourist crowd. My guess is some of this retail will be a little more high end in nature. More services as well such as dry cleaners, dentist, pharmacy services, etc will be needed as the density increases.
