That is the Amazon 3 site. I didn't see where any drilling had taken place, may just be parked there for now.

They are core drilling for all three buildings, the apartment tower, Pinnacle, and the  Big Office tower/Amazon 3. Bore holes all the way down the rr track side and the machine is currently on the office building/Amazon 3 location. The holes are marked along the lower 10th sidewalk as well. They may have to go through the center of the parking lot too, but too many cars parked there and if they did that would be last.

I think that is for ongoing core drilling going on the entirety of the lot. They had the entire perimeter marked off and they probably needed the interior cleared out for access to the rest of the site.

There is still a lot of work to be done before construction can start on anything as no plans have been approved.

I think they already have the infrastructure work done.

Here is a view of Amazon II from the Union Street Connector.  The road work sign may actually  be for 900 Church Street "Alcove" construction as they use the sidewalk for supply storage.

I scoped this out today. The sign at the former entrance said that the lot was temporarily closed. That being said, they've pulled out the machines where people can pay to park. From today:

@downtownresidentnice shots.  Really digging the one of Union Station with it's tall neighbors.  Yet this one right here has me giddy with eagerness!!!!!

The trifecta would be having all three, the tall residential, new Pinnacle, and A3 starting together this fall!

Again, that would be rather hard as not paper work has been submitted for the other two towers, and the initial paperwork has only just been submitted for approval for the Pinnacle tower. Unless they are a year ahead in the design phase, they still would have a lot of hoops to jump through on the Metro end of things.

FWIW, it looks like they’re doing a small amount of across the site. You can see the small dirt piles on the Asurion cam.

They had the core drilling marked off to run down lower 10th close to the sidewalk when I walked by Sunday. I figured then they would have to close the lot to do everything.

They aren’t using the core driller though, they’re using the small digger. 
 

At any rate, you’re correct that they haven’t filed any paperwork regarding the new towers yet. Their original grading permit is still active, so maybe they have some work they can do while other things are approved.

The driller wasn’t on site yesterday, just the small digger. They’re doing the digging this morning.
