Union Station Hotel, which--as you may remember--is now part of theNashville Yards development due to its purchase last year by Southwest Value Partners, will be undergoing some additional renovations/additions to the lower portions of the east and west sides. These are renderings and diagrams for their request to zoning for the changes.

So those are hotel rooms down on that level?   Hmmm... How loud are the trains passing through down there?  I think those cabana areas could look really nice with landscaping-  shrubs, maybe some climbing vines onto the cabanas,  but of course,  there probably isn't regular sunlight down there to keep them alive.   

Overall,   love the idea of activating that space and having a cool pathway over to Yards.  A speakeasy-type bar on that level of Union Station  with an outdoor patio would seem to work well and I bet would be popular.

That one feels like the low hanging fruit for the whole development. Obviously there are cost concerns about mobilizing for the 6-story and not for the overall podium, but I would think having the 6-story structure up and running would be a great financial buffer for the other components (even thought the residential will be farmed out to another group)

That’s right, I forgot it’s to sit on a parking platform. I can remember a lot of these projects, because they just run together now like peanut butter & jelly sandwiches sitting in a first graders lunch bag too long.

Not to derail from Nashville yards, but that's the thing, I don't think the 6-story building has the parking podium. I think the parking is all housed under the tallboys on the actual Tennessean site.

Either way, this will be a great connector to Nashville Yards. Especially once the viaduct is complete.

It looks like they've started digging here. They've also laid out the gravel entrances along lower 10th Ave, and have been core drilling near the intersection of Commerce St and 10th Ave.
