Yes--hoping construction starts in the next year. I did see that from another poster, but was unaware of it until I heard about it today. Unbelieveable--I guess it really does come down to timing, finances and some good luck with large developments, in general.

Wow, insane....a long time.

I have to think the Nashville Yards project is having terrific construction momentum, and is so high profile and moving forward relatively briskly, that I'd be shocked if it did not built up completely, pretty fast. 

Unless there is an economic crisis of some sort over the next 1-2 years, I'd estimate every building will be finished in Nashville Yards by 2024, roughly.

Does anyone know how many residential towers are going up in Nashville Yards? It looks, from the illustrated images, that there will be 5 or 6 towers, but mostly mid-rise in terms of height/stories. Maybe like 8-10 stories to roughly 20 or so...

It is encouraging to see the progress though for the 2nd Amazon tower going up, as well as the Pinnacle Bank Tower, starting construction. I wonder if the residential piece will be the final one they start with? 

You'd think with so many residential buildings going up there, they would have already started on at least 1. But maybe Covid is the reason.

Looking a little more closely at the entertainment district, you can see a rendering of a substantial building at Commerce and Rosa Parks, likely at least 20 stories tall. You can also see 6 candidates for residential towers, leaving me to wonder if the footprint of Nashville Yards is going to expand a bit. There are a few sites nearby that make sense.

@jjbradleyBrooklyn According to a interview(or maybe a press release, I can't remember) SWVP has stated that there could be up to 8 residential buildings in NY when it's all said and done. I've quoted a few posts from earlier in the thread where I numbered off possible residential towers, and @markhollincounted floors and came up with possible floor counts for each tower. 

I think COVID delayed somethings by a few years, and really forced the re-design of the entertainment district, but it appears the delay will result in a larger development than originally planned. The original renderings showed one or two large buildings with a bunch of 10-15 story buildings mixed in, we could end up with 10 towers over 20 floors, and 4 over 30. Pretty impressive for what was a few small buildings, a large warehouse, an office tower, and surface lots pre 2017.

You beat me to the punch! I was just posting. I think I know the location of 6 towers and may know the location of another one the are considering a Yards tower that will not ne on campus but by a development partner at an adjacent site.

There are lots of moving parts and pieces in this puzzle that are changing faster than a Chinese Puzzle box. I think the Resi. towers are being redesigned right now, at least that is my theory as why they are doing the Geotech work in the AEG pit. AEG pit will have 2000 units give or take.

I think they may have the layout of the pit set. I took these earlier, they've put down fresh markings, they aren't in the picture I took last week.

That's super impressive! What I love about Nashville development in general, is that skyscrapers and highrises going up are going up pretty densely, and in areas where there was mostly very low rise buildings. Now these massive developments are going up and creating vibrant city districts of skyscraper density. 

Nashville is truly changing its entire city size and status--in just a few years' time--that's what is so remarkable. 

In 1990, Nashville was a state capital city with a strong country music heritage, a mid sized city that was in the city tier alongside of Birmingham, Memphis, Louisville, Richmond, and Providence, etc. 

Then by 2010, Nashville had landed 2 pro teams and elevated its "famous city" status, to even more who didn't know of it. The development for skyscrapers downtown though had not yet taken off, but a few developments over 20 years or so had changed the skyline some.  

Starting in 2015, downtown development plans skyrocketed, and the groundwork was laid for the "it city boom" of what we see today. 

Now in the latter part of 2021, and almost into 2022, Nashville has catapulted its tier city status for skyscrapers and density development to be alongside Charlotte, Austin, Cincinnati, and Baltimore, and looking to be alongside the ranks of Denver, Minneapolis, and San Diego, in another 5 years time or so.

Just a phenomenal time to be alive and watch this city take 100 years of development and condense it into 10 - 15 or so.

I had an old spread sheet I was just looking over that I used to use for projects I kept track of that were either Proposed , Under construction, etc. I have not used the list since around 2016 and most of the proposed items

on the the list, lets say 90 plus % have now been completed or another project has been built in its place. 

I was actually rather shocked after going through the list and taking into account all of the new projects that were added since 2015. It has been truly eye opening! that goes back to your point jjbradleyBrooklyn

that we have condensed a lot of growth into just a few years. At some point (when I have time, as I have too many projects) I will try and do a summery of projects that have been competed at least in the core  since 2013

when this current boom started. I think we can  all agree the completion of the MCC was probably the catalyst for the current growth boom to which I see no end in sight.

Agreed, especially with the proposed YMCA tower and the under construction Prime and Alcove towers. Essentially, an entire new city within the city is being created!

I think that a member of the leadership at Pinnacle literally said something like "Nashville's CBD is shifting west" and I'm starting to think there's a lot of truth to that. SoBro will likely continue to grow increasingly residential/retail/entertainment-focused and Nashville Yards will make that end of downtown along with Midtown more attractive for workplaces.

Agreed.  And yet I'm hopeful the "old" center of the CBD isn't forgotten.  I continue to hope it gets a new project or two to keep it alive AND to ensure all the areas merge to form a singularly impressive downtown core.  And I love the thought Henburg shared of distinctive districts within that singular downtown core.  The NY area becomes the business district, the old cbd (with Printers Alley etc.) combines with the capitol mall area to become the arts district, SoBro (with the MCC, attractions, hotels, lower broad scene) becomes the entertainment/tourist district, and the Gulch becomes the trendy district with residential  and dining sprinkled throughout them all.

Agreed. And the old CBD also remains the seat of the state and metro governments.

Is the only area in the "pit" not dug up now the entertainment portion part? I was there in early October and the ground did not look like that (dug up) on any part of it on a mass scale. 

Wondering when they'll actually get the steel to start rising--then I think everyone will breathe a good sigh of relief that things are going up and happening to complete things at Nashville Yards.

Trying to understand what's happening here.  I've heard talk of A) not technically UC and B) they're just doing preliminary work.  Yet, if excavation is preliminary work, shouldn't we see more depth by now.?  This has been going for weeks.  Not a complaint; just seeking to understand.
