Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) owns that particular part of the development.  They do manage the Staples Center in Los Angeles, so they know something about arenas, but I don't see how a second arena (or third if you include the Municipal Auditorium) in Nashville would work.

If it's privately financed and had an NBA team it could. But I am not getting my hopes up.

If a city like Chicago can make NHL/NBA work with one arena, Nashville can as well.  A 2nd arena would not be the best use of that land.

One reason they can pull it off though is that there are other arenas in Chicago that can handle large scale concerts and the like.

Not only that, but the United Center in Chicago is the largest arena in the NBA, so it is better equipped to handle two teams.

We need to bear in mind that the Chicago market is nearly at 5 times the size of Nashville.  Outside of United Center, the only other large arena is Allstate with a capacity of around 16,000.  Then there are a 3 in the 10-12,000 range (Now Arena in Hoffman Estates; Wintrust Arena at McCormack Place, and UIC Pavilion). ..and all of them struggle to stay active.  

Besides Bridgestone Arena, we have Municipal Aud (9,000), Vandy Memorial Gym (14,300), and MTSU Murphy Center (11,520). 

I would say we are well-stocked in decent-sized arenas right now.  Adding another major league size venue would not be a profitable enterprise, even WITH an NBA franchise as part of the deal.  There simply wouldn't be enough additional entertainment options to fill the other 320 nights a year.

But they wouldn't have it done by then anyway.  Maybe it means, though, that they've slowed down hiring more than will fit in the 1 tower?

To me, those entrances and 'lobbies' look very tight. I suppose that's intended to promote security, but no apparent open lobby in those renderings.

Now that we know that Upper 10th will extend to the end of Amazon 2, I’m curious if the Streelights proposal on the old NES substation will tie into upper 10th or not. I’d imagine they would, it’d be a good place for some retail/lobby space.

Amazon Tower Two update: Even though work has slowed, Southwest Value Partners (owner and master developer of the 18-acre Nashville Yards) company officials told the Post Monday that construction of the second tower remains on schedule but declined further comment. Work continues on the first high-rise, which is topped and has its exterior nearly finished.
