It is neat seeing a new generation of hotels rising on the strip because they look so much better than past generation hotels and seem to have a much better street presence.

It's getting close to being done.  The crane has come down.

Hopefully they do a good job with incorporating the street level and including shops and restaurants. The improvement in walkability at the area near the Hilton is really great – the hotels are pushed back from the street. I think it should be a requirement for new hotels.

Looks like they've already started construction. This project is moving fast.

Eventually they're gonna have to raise the height limit somehow. Literally every new hotel is building up to the height limit. This project could've been one 38-story building with more open space.

Armada/Owners have temporarily nixed the Hyatt Place property on 27th street. The Hyatt House property on 27th street is still going up as scheduled. Word is that the second tower (Hyatt Place)  will commence some time next year.

I went to the Skybar last night. As I looked down the strip, the view was pretty sweet looking towards the Cavalier and the Mayflower. But looking towards the lower streets, I couldn't help but think that the stretch between 20th and 30th Streets could use a little more height and some more glass. I can't wait to see more hotels like this one. Hopefully more stuff starts going up along Pacific Avenue as well.

Isn't this hotel already under construction?  Why do they need more money? A bit confused by this article.

The hotel currently under construction is a Hyatt Place Hotel. This second hotel is a Hyatt House hotel. Both hotels were proposed  simultaneously, but the Hyatt House was later put on hold. The VB city council is now considering a proposal which would have the Hyatt House become a reality.

Ok, thanks, that makes a bit more since. The pilot gives the impression that both buildingsides have yet to start,  and are waiting on council actions.

Jeff,

I believe you flip flopped those. The hotel that is coming out of the ground now is a Hyatt House. Engineer is still working on the final mechanical design, I have not seen a job still being tweaked this far into construction.

You're right, R-123. Thank you for clearing that up.
