That's interesting ... I kind of accept traffic as a part of living in a moderately sized metro area. But- and this is a big but- I don't have to commute on I-4 to get to work, so maybe I'd feel differently if I did.

If I had to pick one thing, it'd be the public transit. Getting that right has the possibility of spilling over into so many other benefits to metro residents (not the least of which could be the afore-mentioned traffic).

Huh, I would have said the "rent." Traffic is not that bad here even with the crazy ultimate project going on. Go drive in Atlanta or Miami at rush hour (or even worse, LA or NYC), and then get back to us. 

Lack of public transportation also on the list and suburban sprawl, instead of more density and better preservation of green space/parks would be on there too.

I've lived in Miami, and my experience is the roads and traffic are far worse here then Miami.

I live there now (kinda).  Miami is far worse than Orlando in my experience.

Miami was way worse to me, even with current I-4 construction.  I guess it depends on what roads you take, but in general Orlando is not as bad, IMO, and should improve once Ultimate is complete.

Now that I live in LA my perception of what constitutes bad traffic has completely changed. That said, I do find it easier to maneuver through the streets of LA and get to my destination relatively easily even in rush hour traffic. The neighborhoods and side streets make it quite easy to use alternative routes.

We’ve had trains for years that stop in downtown Orlando, Winter Park and Kissimmee multiple times a day and can take you throughout Florida at a price most Floridians can afford. Sure, they can be even better. To make it so, all we as citizens have to do is elect those who share our vision of intercity rail.

Have you called or e-mailed your representatives? Have you checked their party’s platform to see where they stand on transit? In the end, it’s all up to us.

Orlando has long pulled above its weight in terms of the LGBT presence for a metro of its size. No doubt that Pulse would have also appeared on this list were it still here.

The funny part is that I’ve never been a PH fan (although Miss P’s shows were amazing and there have been some great plays at Footlight).

Nevertheless, in almost any gathering of gay folks I’ve been to around the country, when I mention I’m from Orlando, one of the first things they ask is, “Have you been to Parliament House? Tell me about it!”

The fact it’s been mentioned in places like Armistead Maupin’s “Tales” saga certainly hasn’t hurt.

The St. Pete  Times is reporting Tampa may be in trouble for its decrepit sewage system (a similar problem in St. Pete was a major issue in that city’s most recent mayoral election):
