someone tipped me off that something big was in the works for this site.  Austin Lawrence which just refinanced their interest in One City Center maybe be ready to do a high rise on this site.

Case in point a brownfields survey has been opened just recently for this site.  A first step to developing it.

Proposed Brownfields Property SouthBank Building (25022-21-032) (nc.gov)

says proposed use is for high density residential and a hotel that sounds like a high rise to me.

anybody know anything else about this?

I hope this new Five Points tower is the Durham's newest tallest.  Needs to be 357 feet or more to beat the University Tower out in SW Durham.

I don’t care about the height.  Durham will never be tall, and I’m not sure that I’d even want it to be.  I’d like for it to be the scale of SouthEnd in “the C Word.”  (I’ve been scolded for referring to ……  in the Triangle Forum, so I promised to refer to it as the “C Word.”).  I just hope for a nice design in this very prime spot.
