spenser1058 5302 Report post Posted January 14, 2019 This being Orlando, before you turn around someone will put a fountain in the retention pond and play Starland Vocal Band on an endless loop from the tinny speakers in the trees. Except Lake Ivanhoe, of course. We can’t have “those” people cluttering up our streets! 1
Jernigan 2641 Report post Posted January 14, 2019 Some things you can learn from looking at their permit names: Suntrust: Floors 15-17 (at least) AC Marriott: Floors 18-25

AmIReal 994 Report post Posted January 15, 2019 20 hours ago, codypet said: I thought AmIReal was talking about the pond in the photo behind OUC. That is a pond for sure and shows up in the plans as a dry pond. Looks pretty wet in that photo though. It would answer the question I had earlier about the homeless though. Thanks for digging up the plans for Sylvia Ln codypet. Yes, I was talking about the rather wet "dry" pond behind the OUC building. I assume they will drain the pond and elevate it instead of building g a bridge. Regardless, I like the idea as it adds another sidewalk connecting the Novel area to downtown. spenser1058 5302 Report post Posted January 17, 2019 It’s interesting how downtown seems to be entering a “blue period”. Was there a meeting where this was decided? Not that I’m complaining- blue’s my favorite color. I almost applied to Michigan because I really liked their football uniforms...
JFW657 4519 Report post Posted January 17, 2019 I like blue glass too, but too much of a good thing becomes not a good thing. I'd like to see a few more non-glass exterior buildings myself.
JFW657 4519 Report post Posted January 17, 2019 Looks like they're starting on the narrow top hotel section now... Vertical progress should start speeding up from here on out.

IAmFloridaBorn 1786 Report post Posted January 19, 2019 hey I have a photo update. It's been awhile and I don't have my nice phone so the quality of the images may not be that great but I wanted to get some shots. 4

I'd like to have done the bottom floors visible underneath the roadway too. Maybe I'll work on it some more later.

My aim with these doctored up pics is just to give a general idea of what it might look like when finished. Not trying for rendering quality as that is beyond my scope anyway, especially using only what's there so far.

mraurora 21 Report post Posted January 21, 2019 I know some have expressed their disdain towards the SunTrust Center, but I have always liked it. It saddens me to know that I won't be greeted by it when entering downtown on 4 eastbound anymore. Also, the view of the SunTrust is blocked by Modera from Lake Eola. Sad day. 3

I like everything about it but the roofline. But you should still be able to see it up to a point.

I just think teal is a color that should be forever banned from skyscrapers along with other ‘80’s atrocities like big hair. Otherwise I’m good. nite owℓ 980 Report post Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) It's not like I want to see teal everywhere, but the SunTrust building adds a bit of personality and character to an otherwise boring skyline. Tastefully 80's IMO! Edited January 22, 2019 by nite owℓ
