The tower not only has blue lights streaking at the top, there's also red lights as well.  Seems it is emulating the Wells Fargo tower light show juuuuust a little bit!

I just saw the color green as well!  Seems there are a myriad of colors being illuminated from the top of the tower.  Love it!

I love how the lights on this tower can change colors. Tonight the color is green for St. Patrick’s Day (yesterday)!  Way cool. Wish we had a good web camera view of the front of the building so that we can see the different colors and light designs. I think they still might be experimenting on the light design...to see what works best.  At any rate, it’s a very nice touch!

All taken today. It's coming along nicely, but I am pretty disappointed with the Cary Street side. Except for the corner at 7th, the whole part of the building on Cary is dead space...like so much of those blocks on that stretch.

It looks so good from 7th Street (too bad traffic flows away from the building).  Really soaring and uplifting. It has singlehandedly dragged downtown into the 21st century.

Does it change its colors or just stay one color? If just the one color is it always blue?

I was told by someone in the fire department that there are tentative plans to demolish the old Dominion tower in October of this year.  "Soft demo" should begin in June.  They said the building will be imploded.  No word on what will replace it yet.

The way it was told to me was that they had begun applying for the permits needed for the demolition / explosives already.  So it's a strong definitely maybe.

The old Dominion tower is definitely coming down.   I know you can't say "trust me" on the internet and have it mean anything, but trust me. 

If you want to check my post history, note that I was 100% right about the two towers design.

Will the second tower be a slightly shorter near twin (as shown in renderings)  or a similar complimenting tower? I almost think a similar but not exact twin would be preferable, aesthetically. (Think One and Two Liberty Places in Philadelphia).

It is supposed to be 2 floors shorter, if I recall properly (may be 4), though may have changed since.

I got word that the implosion of the OJRP is delayed...could be early next year before the implosion happens.

I actually kind of wish they'd just build the tower on the lot to the west of the first. I'll miss the old Dominion tower. Glad the street engagement will be getting better though

Visiting friends in town walked around downtown and took some shots of many things but here is the new Dominion Energy tower.  Yesterday.
