Major development to rise immediately south of Frandor on Lansing's far eastside: SkyVue on Michigan.

 

 

Mixed-use project planned for former Story Olds site

 

 

LANSING – A Georgia developer plans to build a 9-story building with 359 apartments and retail space on the former Story Oldsmobile site on Michigan Avenue.

 

The proposed $77 million project, dubbed "SkyVue on Michigan," is aimed at young professionals and students, with 40 percent of the apartments having one bedroom and one bathroom, said Matt Marshall, vice president of development for Ambling University Development Group, based in Atlanta, Ga.

It's bland architecture, sure, but at over 650,000 square feet, this will be one of the largest single buildings, period, in Lansing.  They are shooting for a 2017 completition.

A hearing for rezoning is set for July 7.  It seems since the announcement, the number of units has been lowered to 313, though, it remains nine stories.  This could simply be from combining some units to make larger units with more bedrooms.  Looks like this is on track for their tentative fall start.  There is already some utility work being done on-site, I hear.
