Per WSJ:

Winston-Salem has been selected as the host of the 2016 and 2017 professional road and time trial national championships, USA Cycling announced today. Next year's pro championships will set up two straight weekends of racing in Winston-Salem. In addition to the pro road and time trial championships, the masters road national championships and the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic will take place the following weekend.  It all will culminate Memorial Day with the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic's UCI-level road race.

“Winston-Salem is an excellent cycling town and is well equipped to host this nine-day celebration of road cycling next year,” Micah Rice, USA Cycling vice president of national events, said in a news release. “Combining the three pre-existing events into one occasion will make Winston-Salem the epicenter of American cycling next spring, and we are proud to partner with a city so deserving of that role.”

The back-to-back events are sure to draw some of the best cyclists in the world. "This number of national cycling championships at one time and in one location is unprecedented and will welcome tens of thousands of spectators and racers to Winston-Salem,” said Dr. Richard Rauck, chairman of the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic committee.

To put on the events, USA Cycling, the sport's national governing body, has been working with Visit Winston-Salem and the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic. “With strong local resources, including the future cycling center in downtown, Winston-Salem is ready to be in the national spotlight and eager to welcome cyclists and spectators,” said Richard Geiger, the president of Visit Winston-Salem.
