Does anyone know about the timeline for turning the Greer Stadium site into park space/ expanding Fort Negley Park?

The stadium was demolished/ cleared about a year ago, and the site has been fenced off and vacant ever since.

It seems slow for a site that got so much attention in the last mayoral race.

The $3 million project to restore the historic (originally built in 1936) steps of Percy Warner Park will reopen this Friday, Oct. 2nd.

WTVF’s Sky 5 posted a photo of the repaired Stones River Greenway boardwalk on Facebook this morning along with the news that it reopens today! It was closed after substantial damage from the March tornado.

A major Bells Bend riverfront property is for sale for $7.8 million, more than a year after then-Mayor David Briley announced that the city would buy it for that price and preserve it as green space.

The 682-acre property owned for generations by the Graves family, and at one point farmed by David Lipscomb.  The listing describes the Bells Bend site as an “iconic trophy property” with “infinite picturesque downtown Nashville views, vast acreage & unbridled nature along the Cumberland River.”

Metro and the Graves family reached an agreement on the property in 2019 but, according to the office of Mayor John Cooper, funds were never appropriated for the purchase.

“Mayor Briley’s letter of intent set forth a purchase price, but funding was not allocated for this purchase,” spokesperson Andrea Fanta said. “Mayor Cooper remains very interested in seeing this property retain its natural beauty and would love for it to become land to be enjoyed by all Nashvillians. We are eager to engage with any stakeholders who wish to help us fund the acquisition or preservation of this space.”

Peacock Hill  will feature six eight-mile long trails in the heart of the rural area of Williamson County, including one ADA accessible trail. The visitor center is in a house on the property that was once a cabin. Part of the makings of the cabin still remain inside.

Williamson County acquired the land through a family donation, and the donor decided to put many of the acres in a conservation easement through the Land Trust of Tennessee.
