Favorite City

Please tell us your favorite city and why.

Mine would be Anchorage, AK; because that is where I was originally from. I still love the south though!!!

The fact that I live near it is purely a coincidence.

Have always wanted to see what living in Chicago would be like, though. Savannah, Charleston (love their market), and the Outer Banks are pretty high on my list, though.

it's a toss up between savannah, georgia and honolulu, hawaii. one has down south charm and the other has un-matched beauty.

San Francisco absolutely amazes me, and I WILL live there as soon as I'm done with my Masters, even if I don't get my best job opportunities out there. It's worth being poor to live in SF!

I'm going to go with Portland, OR. The downtown is vibrant, the lightrail system is first rate, and the city parks are spectacular.

Savannah is beautiful, too! Maybe in a different way from Honolulu, though.

oh i agree, but it was really the feeling that i got from savannah that really got me. just the laid back down south feeling is what made it stand out. with honolulu, the scenery there was just simply stunning. it's got mountains, rain forrests and beautiful beaches. in savannah, the people make the experience. in honolulu, the scenery makes the experience (not that the locals weren't nice, they were awesome). this is just my opinion however.

Detroit,

I live 1,100 miles away from it, i've never been there and i'm obsessed with it. Sure it's portrayed as a craphole, but there is so much history there, they way it so instantly became the heart of Americas Economy, and it's subsequent fall from grace for the past 60 years. It has the best collection of neo-gothic architecture from the 30's. Not to mention the war between the city, and it's arrogant, affluent suburbs. I know Detroit is portrayed as the red headed step child of American cities in media outlets, but cheer up Detroit! Someone from outside Michigan loves you too

Paris.

A tiny village and a huge metropolis at the same time. Perfect. It has all the positive sides from each.

I do like Detroit a lot, especially since I had to do quite an extensive project on it at school.

For me its New York. The density and the vibe the city gives off is amazing. You could spend a month there and still not see all that it has to offer.

I like New York, too. Especially Long Island and the observation decks atop the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.

Miami. Not too big or too small, but just right. Nightlife and shopping can't be touched. When your nightlife beats out NY & LA, then you know your city has a good club scene.

I've been out of the US for a few months so I've got European cities on my mind. Dublin has to be one of my favorites.. Barcelona is up there and would probably be near the top if I spoke any Spanish at all. Can't stand Paris.
