It's a good design, the big problem is the floodplain issue.

That. I couldn't for the life of me fathom how they'd handle a flood hitting the building in the design, or afford that kind of insurance.  I still like the idea of some kind of river walk etc.  and better planned buildings etc for that section of town.

Finally!  Been waiting to hear more on this.  I love downtown Franklin and I'm really excited to be the new projects going on there.  This should be a really great addition.  Also really interesting to see that it's another Hilton Curio.  That's potentially 3 of them in the Nashville market that could be under construction at the same time.  They're obviously quite bullish on Middle TN.

Oh look, more basic crap for Brentwood.

No no, see there at the top?  It is sporting 'the pointless overhang,' which is the cousin of 'the pointless fin,' and proof that the architects worked really, really, super hard on this very creative and cutting edge design. <_<

Mars Pet Care, which already employs over 1,000 people, is looking to build 200,000 sq. ft. of space for another large expansion.  Most likely in Williamson County.  Sure wish they would become the primary tenant in the 5th & Broadway office tower.

Crescent Communities announces more designs on their $100 million, mixed-use project that will include 300,000 sq. ft. of office space, 340 apartments, a 180-room hotel, several restaurants, and public green space.  Will be located on the NE corner of Carothers Pkwy and McEwen Dr.

I know that Cool Springs gets a ton of hate on here, and I don't think it deserves it. Cool Springs never claimed to be an urban area competing with downtown Nashville, but rather a suburb that offers different options than Nashville. The newer developments have also improved drastically in my opinion, with more inclusion of dense living and green space. I don't understand why people seem to give other communities like Murfreesboro a pass while constantly talking down on Cool Springs. To clarify, I am definitely not saying that Cool Springs is a masterpiece of planning or anything, but I think as far as suburban communities go, it's one of the better ones out there and it is still improving.

Cool Springs never claimed to be an urban area, but it has most definitely competed with Downtown Nashville. And I would argue that it still does, otherwise they would not be building thousands of apartments there. That's the whole point of a lot of these newer Cool Springs developments. Younger people tend to be more attracted to cities and urbanity -- or at least the convenience of urbanity (such as not having to drive all over creation to do your errands).

That said, I do definitely agree that the developments have improved drastically. As someone that has frequented Cool Springs since its creation, it's very interesting to see the phases in which it has developed, from the mall and a bunch of rather mundane strip malls and restaurants to office parks and fancy mansions to mixed use communities and semi-urban apartment developments. It's been an interesting transformation over the course of 20+ years. And it wouldn't surprise me if eventually we end up with a few (sort-of) high rises in Cool Springs. The demand is already making Franklin reconsider height limits.

As far as planning goes, Cool Springs is better planned than a lot of suburban areas, but in general, the entire Nashville region just sucks at planning.
