Apparently we can't have nice things in the Boro. I know it's not a Murfreesboro only problem but certainly feels like the non-chain options here are dwindling at a time when we're experiencing massive growth. This one is especially painful as the place was always busy when we were there but seems they fell victim to the midweek lull. Definitely appreciate the years we had them but it does sting a bit knowing they won't be around for the future.

(Of course the lack of unique variety is what drives us to Nashville more often than not. Nothing like this place in Nashville though.)

The Green Dragon Pub and Brewery is "closed permanently," the owner confirmed.

Saturday was the final night of service for the beloved, affectionately known as the "Hobbit bar."

"The Dragon had a wonderful time serving the wonderful people of the 'Boro," owner Joe Minter said in a message to The Daily News Journal.

Let's be honest though, it was a terrible location tucked back where the majority of people in town didn't even know was there. Even if you drove by it, it looked like an uninviting warehouse building. Not saying it wasn't cool or that I wanted it to fail, just that the location was bad. It needed to be on the square or in walking vicinity to it.

I know this is a bit further south in Bedford County, but it is news of note: Shelbyville will be home to a large new distillery and attraction for Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey.  The 270 acre site will feature traditional elements like rick houses, bottling facilities and a tasting room. In the years to come, she wants it will become an ode to Tennessee with unique nods to the state’s history and culture, including mini-golf, barbecue and a chance to ride Shelbyville steeds.

I have never heard of Randstad. I wonder what % of the 4,550 actually work in the county? I question Mars Petcare #s, as I heard from a few of their employees  that they went through a rough patch the last 6+ months and had a hiring freeze along with many leaving.

Mitsubishi announced today that their short-term home for their North American HQ will be at Al. Neyer's  new Spaces co-working hub structure at 3401 Mallory Lane. This will include roughly 150 open jobs across a range of departments (about 60 folks will be relocating from California).  They hope to locate their permanent home and be moved-in by spring of 2020.   One reasonable option might be the McEwen Northside development nearby that is nearly finished with its 180,000 sq. ft. office building.

Nashville native and last year's American League MVP,  Mookie Betts, is building a new 20,000 sq. ft. mansion on 8.5 acres near the Grassland community in Franklin.  The Boston Red Sox star attended Overton H.S., and still loves staying in Smashville during the off season.

While the plans are undisclosed, there could be some big things in the works to provide competition to St. Thomas Rutherford. Since the city is the anchor for the southeastern part of the metro area, it'd have quite the catchment area, particularly for counties like Cannon, Coffee, Warren, & others versus going all the way to the main VUMC.
