Now the Tennessee Central needs to run its excursion train from downtown to the Wilson County Fairgrounds-great way to get tourists as well as locals out there.

In past years the Star has made runs to/from the fair on some nights. I do not know if any are scheduled this year.

All that asphalt.  Wish there was another way to provide parking without acres and acres of blacktop.

Baronakim, do you know the cost difference between that and asphalt? It would be interesting to see that, asphalt isn’t cheap these days . And can you mow the grass without damage to the polypave or the mowing equipment?

With Polypave, there is no grass.  The dirt acts just the same as asphalt but absorbs much less heat  than the darker asphalt.  However, the costrratios have probably inproved from  years ago as the price of asphalt most likely increased much more than the polypave.  Also there is a lot less subsurface prep with polypave.   It also is a one layer operation.  Asphalt require at least two.  See what it has to say on its website.  Also the great thing with polypave is you can just outline areas for tree  planting and just noot sproay it...it's jist compacted  dirt.  Then you pour a concrete curbing after application and backfill.  Breaking up the vast lot with trees would be very easy and cost effective.   Any repairs to the surface are very easy to accomplish with small scale onsite equepment and would match  invisibly too.

Not sure if this has been posted, but a track is being built on a property outside Crossville, TN (between Crab Orchard and Rockwood). The group is legit. They are working with the investors of the Music City Grand Prix which include Kevin Clayton and even a few of the drivers from the GP race.

Here's their facebook page which includes some action shots from their promotion at the Grand Prix:
https://www.facebook.com/ExperienceFlatrock

They are working with the internationally acclaimed Tilke engineers (https://tilke.de/en/projects/) who have designed some of the world's famous tracks in Saudi Arabia, Instanbul, Hanoi, Baku, Vancouver, Sochi, Austin (COTA), Nuerburgring, Bahrain, Korea, Shanghai and Barcelona.

I'm a little confused about the target market here. It's not a good club track; it's too complex, doesn't have enough runoff room, smaller layouts look like an afterthought. It's not a good grand prix circuit; it's still too complex, has a very un-Tilke layout (that might be a good thing), doesn't look like it would produce good racing. They seem to have tried to set it up for motorcycles but missed a couple of corners. It looks good for endurance or sports cars but are you planning on running at night next to the villas? That's also a lot of grandstand space.

All that being said since the road course inventory of the state consists of the superspeedway's roval, Memphis' drag strip circuit (which probably has weeds growing on it) and a smattering of private tracks I'll take whatever we can get.

I really wish there was more space to put this type of development into an urban space downtown vice out off New Salem Hwy.

Dickson County:  The new Dickson County Farmers Market facility planned for Downtown Dickson now has a construction manager after the county commission approved a familiar Nashville firm for the project.

T.W. Frierson, the company that managed construction of the new county justice center, was approved Aug 15 by commissioners. Also approved was spending $500,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funds for the new farmers market.

County Mayor Bob Rial said the county would take "the lead" on construction and scheduling, but the city and county are working together on the project.

Rial said he hoped the market, which is expected to have 24 covered vendor spaces and open space in the middle, would be open by the spring next year.

The location will be at corner of Church St. and East Rickert Ave.
