What is Washington Like?

Recommended Posts

Washington is green, on the western side of the Cascade Mountains. We equate Washington as being green and rainy because that is the climate of the Puget Sound area and Seattle. However, east of the Cascade Mountains there is close to 300 days of sunlight and fertile farmlands where wheat and Washington's famous apple crop grows. I've visited the state quite a few times as I have relatives living near Olympia. I was amazed when we took a road trip while we were there last summer to Moses Lake, WA (a two and a half hour drive east of Seattle). It had been overcast and 70 in Seattle and suddenly we crossed the Cascade Mountains and it was 85 and full sunshine! So in a phrase I'd characterize Washington State has a state of big contrasts with something to offer everyone, both climatically and culturally. Hope that helps!
