A couple of things - JWM is a big site, and they did a fair amount of excavation. It takes time to get that big a footprint to street level. As others have said, now that they are concentrating on the tower portion, it will rise faster. The shape of the tower floors will be a bit of a challenge. 90 degree corners are easier to build.

The slow projects for me are the various Printers Alley hotels. I know building on such tight sites is challenging, but it still seems very slow.

I walked down printer's alley for dinner, then was in the area again two weeks later and could notice absolutely no changes to the hotel site. Yes, it's very slow.

The Cambria SHOT up. I could observe the construction from Midtown and, after the base was completed,  the tower portion seemed to climb one floor every couple of days.

Yes is it fast. But then across the street, the JWM is going up very slooooooooowly.

The J.W. is only just now getting to the point of using uniform floor plates. Prior to this point, everything was being cast using custom forms that for obvious reasons take longer to build and complete. I think it'll catch up in short order.

I think the Marriott tri-brand across KVB from the Omni seems to be taking a very long time.

Where are they on that one?

3rd floor maybe?  It's got a massive square footprint.  I walk by there a lot and yes, it's taking a while.  The smaller foot prints seem to be flying by.  505, SoBro, 222 (once it got past the parking) and I bet the JW will fly up once they get past the base structure.

I don't care what anyone says, that's a 20-story building.

Meh, it won't matter soon enough. Majority of it will be obscured any way once the following are done:

*5th / Broadway

*The Endeavor (if this one ever happens, still seems like a pipe dream at this point)

*Hyatt Regency (see The Endeavor)

*JW Marriott

*Embassy / Curio

:)
