Another  apartment complex is headed for Downtown Winston-Salem. Goler Community Development Corp. in partnership with Laurel Street Residential of Charlotte,  a leading developer of mixed-income housing throughout the Southeast, will be developing a 115-unit apartment complex on land in between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Chestnut Street and Patterson Avenue. The development would consist of 14 studio apartments, 83 one-bedroom apartments and 18 two-bedroom apartments. A quarter of the units — 29 apartments — would be set aside for people who make no more than 80 percent of area median household income.    The market-rate units would rent for $1,045 to $1,445 per month, while the “affordable” units would go for $757 to $841 per month. The City will be asked to provide a $325,000 grant and a $1.25 million loan for the project.

Is this the same development project that the city and county voted unanimously to support financially at Monday night's meeting?  I think I read both voted for infrastructure funding as well to jumpstart the redevelopment of the Bailey Power Plant site, which is huge and at ground zero of the research park.
