Atherton Mill Redevelopment

Please tell me they are going to do something to screen this beige beast.

Maybe some nice brick paneling, but beyond that, I don’t think so. We shall see.

I posted this in the NoDa thread but this was the original Crescent NoDa parking deck rendering but thankfully,  we landed a wonderful multi-color mural instead.

One would think they would be creative with the Atherton Mill endeavor as well.

I’ll see if I can find out, but it was pretty publicized that both of those other decks would have screening. The flybys and renderings, and elevations I’ve seen of this project does not indicate it is getting any treatment out of the ordinary. I’ll reach out to MT at Crescent, but I don’t think he will answer.

I've only seen and heard brick panels will be applied to the deck.

I spoke to someone on the project. They have a lot of enhancements planned, but it won't take shape in the next 12-15M, couldn't glean exactly what the enhancements will be.  Guess time will tell.

Now y'all have me thinking....

Even a nice alternating pattern (trellis?) of brick and lights would look interesting and suite the neighborhood if done right. It's not fancy, but it would look very attractive at night & better than what's there during the day.

This is a bit disappointing. Hoping fora couple big national retailers.

I think it is uber ugly.

Does a great job at adding density and has a good tenant mix for that live work play vibe.

Wish you could see the old mill more clearly.

Is something going to cover the garage fronting South?

I was told by Crescent they had nice plans for screening that deck, but, lets be honest, doubt it. I think  the apartment/retail portions will actually look better than we expect. The architect is pretty good at faux historic architecture. The parking garage will be a blight on the aesthetics of the area.

Are there  plans in play to add a light rail stop for this development in the future?  I think that it would do wonders for the utilization of the retail here.  Not just because you would get light rail traffic, but because it would, in theory, add an area where rail trail users could cross without having to walk all the way down to Tremont and double back to access the area.
