Details are beginning to emerge on the planned theme park 

Some details...

  • the $750 million theme park will sit on a 700-acres in Bartow County, 45 minutes north of Atlanta on I-75
  • Avatron Park will consist of a 200-acre theme park with five distinct themes including "Hunger Games" and "Divergent"
  • the development will include a 300,000 SF retail center, 2 hotels with a total of 500 rooms
  • LionsGate Entertainment has a deal to license its film properties to new theme park 
  • Park attractions will feature a broad range of multimedia and multi-format offerings, with unique combinations of new content, Hollywood storytelling and cutting-edge special effects
  •  Avatron expects to secure $620 million in order to break ground in January 2016 and open in 2019

Is this dead? Stalled? Seems to be zero news after first announcement a year ago. It's a unique concept for sure, but pretty risky vs a more traditional amusement park with coasters and other rides.

      98th 14th Street - Proposed residential tower for Midtown.

      Since this will be the tallest building built in Atlanta in quite some time, I thought it deserved its own thread. I am sure there will be much to discuss. It reminds me of a much shorter version of 832 Park Avenue. I love the simplicity of the design.
