Grand Rapids Restaurant Rumor Mill

My wife's lebanese and our favorite place went out of business a few years ago.

Mediterranian Island on 44th and Kzoo has a pretty good deli. Well, at least they make pretty good sfeeha and fatayer for only $2 a piece, both of which are my favorite. They make them a bit different that my grandma ever did, but they are very similar tasting. The sfeeha are made with what appears to be pastry dough and are wound in concnetric circles, whereas my Grandma (Syrian) always taught me to use the triangular shape parcels for sfeeha and fatayer. A great quick lunch alternative to fast food.

To keep on track with this thread:

Allendale Restaurant would feature barbecue

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP -- The Township Board has set a hearing on a mixed-use development that includes a restaurant specializing in smoked meats cooked over open flames.

They go in front of the City this week.

I call the Knight!

Yeah, well CHECKMATE! :P That will be cool with all the bocce ball and giant chess going on. What about Croquet and Jarts? Everyone who partakes should have to wear white, like Cricket players

My pool game improves after a pitcher o ale. :D 2nd pitcher, not so much.

Darts on the other hand - I cannot throw for CRAP unless I have a few delicious beverages. Go figure. I guess darts is more of a finesse game than bocce or horseshoes. The alcohol steadies my hand? :whistling: (Yeah right!) :yahoo:

I would have pictured Bar Louie going in along Ionia, but hey good for Woodland Mall.

yeah, I would've thought being located on the first floor of the New England Financial building at Louis & Ionia would've been prime. Apparently, the Woodland Mall location isn't going to be quite the same as the typical ones in Chicago. I guess they've toned down some of their dancing, karaoke, etc. I don't think it will be as edgy as usual from what I've heard.
