Orlando City Place

Kind of like timeshares, but not exactly.  Usually, individuals or investors own units in the hotel, which they can then rent out as they see fit.  Any income generated from renting out units is split between the owner of the unit and the hotel company that manages the property.  And of course, the owners of a unit(s) can use them at their leisure as well.

so would the benefit of getting a unit there versus another condo be that the hotel would take care of maintanence costs? what other benefits are there?

i am thinking that the cost of purchasing a unit there will be generally lower than in a regular condo tower.

Of Note

The article mentions that the hotel will close for its final phase of renovation in December and reopen in the spring as The Lexington, which hopes to be a 4- or 5-star hotel. Long-range plans for Orlando CityPlace call for a 5-story building on the south side of the property, with its bottom three floors dedicated to retail and office space, and its top two floors housing a spa and exercise facilities. On the north side of the property will be a condo tower of at least 1,000 units.

Sorry, if this is old news but I am new to this forum. Does anyone know the current timeline for Orlando CityPlace? I have visited the sales center for the Lexington but they didn't have much updated info on what was going on for the entire CityPlace project. <_<

They do not have a timeline. Best case scenerio, 3-5 yrs before any construction besides the hotel

According to channel 9's report just now, OrlandoCity place will have THREE 45 story towers and they interviewed Barry Greer the developer. It said that this still has to be approved by the MPB but did not give a timeline. The rendering was pretty awesome. Channel 9 kept calling it Cityscape??? The rendering was pretty much the one on here awhile back that looked like Gotham City. Somebody know or have the rendering i am talking about? Also there are apparently only 55 units left in the Lexington. Now this is Channel 9 so take it like a grain of salt.

A snippet from www.lexingtonboutiquehotel.com:

"When Orlando CityPlace is completed, the proposed Master Plan will include a sophisticated, upscale urban development of hi-rise condominium towers, exclusive shops and distinctive dining options, as well as the cosmopolitan luxury of the Lexington Boutique Hotel. CityPlace will set the heart of Orlando beating to a new, dynamic rhythm."
